Every Friday, Leo and Anna meet at a little before school. The cafe is small, but it smells like and coffee. Leo always sits near the window because he likes to watch people walk by.
Anna comes in with a blue notebook. “I have a test today,” she says. Leo smiles and says, “Then you need a good breakfast.” They look at the together.
Leo chooses eggs and toast. Anna oatmeal with honey. The is busy, so Leo carries two glasses of water to their table. The server smiles and says, “Thank you for your help.”
While they eat, Anna reads a few words from her notebook. Leo asks simple questions, and Anna answers them. Soon she feels . The warm food and friendly voice help her morning feel easier.
Before they leave, Anna buys a small cookie for later. Leo puts the empty plates on the counter. Outside, the school bell rings in the distance. The friends walk quickly, but they are not late.
At the school gate, Anna says, “I think I am now.” Leo laughs. “Breakfast is powerful,” he says. Anna puts the cookie in her bag and smiles.
The cafe owner knew the two friends by name. When Leo and Anna came in, she usually waved from behind the counter. She liked that they spoke quietly, cleaned their table, and always said thank you. On cold mornings, she gave them warm water before their food arrived.
Anna liked the cafe because it helped her feel ready for the day. At home, mornings were noisy. Her little brother ran around the kitchen, and the radio was always loud. In the cafe, she could open her notebook, read slowly, and breathe.
Leo liked to invent small games while they waited. He pointed to people outside and made simple stories about them. Anna laughed, but she still looked at her notes. The stories made the test feel smaller and less scary.
After school, Anna came back to the cafe with good news. The test was not easy, but she remembered many answers. She bought one cookie and shared it with Leo. “Maybe breakfast is not magic,” she said, “but a calm morning helps a lot.”
The next Friday, Anna brought a new word list. Leo brought a pencil because Anna always forgot one. They sat near the window again. Outside, people walked fast with bags, phones, and cups of coffee.
This time, Leo ordered yogurt with fruit. Anna ordered toast because she wanted something simple. The server put the plates on the table and asked about the test. Anna smiled and said, “It went well.”
The cafe became part of their week. It was not only a place for food. It was a place to start slowly, speak kindly, and make a busy school day feel possible.
Anna decided to keep the Friday breakfast habit even when there was no test. She liked having one calm place before a busy day. Leo liked it too, because good food and a good friend made the morning feel lighter.
