Access is still not completely open. Fable 5 is available to paid Claude users and enterprise customers, while the less restricted Mythos 5 remains limited to selected organizations through Project Glasswing and other . Anthropic has described that program as a way to let vetted cybersecurity teams use the strongest model for defensive work.
The launch also brings a higher price. Reports say Fable 5 costs more than earlier Opus models, which may limit casual use but position it as a for companies. Early business customers have described gains in coding and technical workflows, but the real test will be whether the model can deliver those gains without creating new security risks.
For Anthropic, Claude Fable 5 is both a product launch and a policy statement. The company is arguing that very capable models can be released to the public if access controls, monitoring and model-level safeguards are strong enough. Critics will watch closely, because one serious misuse case could renew pressure to keep Mythos-class systems away from general users.
